FREE online creative weekend!

Hello wonderful artists and creative souls!

I hope you are all enjoying your week!

I am finally getting back my strength, little by little, after a very nasty flu. I constantly have to remind myself about my limits in pregnancy, and try to slow down every once in while… Not easy, lol! I’m now at the half-way mark at 20 weeks, how exciting! 😀

I have so much to do and I am constantly filled with new inspiration! And as you can see I have been SO busy over the last weeks creating up a storm for both Ever After 2017 and for this awesome Creative online retreat!

Break Free

In the FREE 2 day online retreat, I will be offering this lesson on my acrylic painting, I share with you one of my methods of just letting go and trusting the process. I hope to inspire you to “Break free” and create expressive, emotional portraits, much like in my class “The art of expression”. I believe that sometimes we need to express our emotions and feelings in some way or other, but for fear, we don’t, and we keep it to ourselves. But by letting go and expressing through our art,  we open that window into our feelings, that small peek into what is really happening behind the scenes. A glimpse into our soul.

Here are the other 15 other artists who will be offering some awesome lessons as well!  Learn more about it here:

Ongoing Retreat

(Take advantage of the Early bird price before the retreat begins)

Your creative journey should not be limited to one weekend so we’ve created the ONGOING RETREAT PACKAGE. This includes extended access to the lesson from the weekend of the retreat as well as a new lesson sent out weekly over the next five months. Join us as we make Creative Retreat a practice to sustain our path, nurture our souls and support our creative unfolding.

In my lesson for the ongoing retreat, we will be learning to “Be Brave”!

Be braveIn continuation to my first lesson, we continue to explore the power of visual story telling through our art. Sometimes we have subconscious feelings we can’t really place, but are there nonetheless, weighing us down. When we begin to just let go, and play in our journal, not worrying about perfection, we leave space for those feelings to surface. I also believe that by using limited tools and color palette, again we can stay focused and let those emotions flow. I hope you enjoy this lesson as much as I did! Sometimes letting go of those raw emotions can be really liberating!

I can’t wait to share this all with you an hope you will join me and these other 15 amazing artists/mentors/teachers for a creative overload!

With much love,

Don’t forget that the early bird price for

Good morning everyone!

I’ve been up since early this morning as I am way too excited to lounge in bed lol.. it’s one of those days, sort of like when you are about to travel and go somewhere you’ve never been, where you just can’t sit still.. well today is the day I have been waiting for since the last few months!

As a lot of you know I am have been painting up a storm, 25 pieces to be exact, each with a very special story of their own.. These months haven’t been easy, I am in my fourth month of pregnancy now, but the first three where pretty rough with lots of nausea and exhaustion, and I was still working at my day job in the airport too till not long ago..

But one thing that kept me going was my dream. We all have a dream since we were little right? I only started pulling this dream out of the closet about 2 years ago. Everyone (including me) thought it was ridiculous, a full time artist? “Don’t artists starve and dress in rags?” lol, who wants to live like that?

No, I was determined, I can do this I thought, or at least die trying! I’ve wasted way too many years watching others fulfill their dreams while I sat by and sighed thinking, “If only I could”…Then one day, I started to go into depression. I didn’t want to go on anymore. I had a huge collapse, my body didn’t respond to my brain anymore, it just sort of…shut down. And as I lay in that hospital bed I couldn’t stop thinking, this is not me, this is not who I was meant to be! I can’t let my life pass me by without even trying!!

And so, I slowly pulled out of that dark place, and started to pick up the pieces again. I went through a really dark and difficult time that year.. of searching, of change, of discovery, of trying to put myself back together, piece by piece. But most of all, of really listening to my heart. I felt I had totally forgotten how to do that…

And so I started painting, and painting, and really just getting everything out, all the past of keeping everything inside, it all just started to pour out… I had finally found a way to tell my own story. To share my voice. And I started to heal. Heal from depression, heal from a past a trauma I had tried shut out but never really heled from. I began to listen to that still small voice inside that I had ignored for way too long.

And I painted, every day, as much as I could, every chance I had. I lacked technique so I signed up for online courses, selling my first paintings at whatever price I could so I could use that money to sign up for another online course and another.. I was desperate to learn all I could, I wanted to be able to best portray what my heart wanted to say, through my art.

In the beginning there were a lot of discouragements, a lot of asking and getting no answers, but I didn’t let that discourage me, to the contrary, I let it encourage me to try harder! And then, finally, things started to fall in place. Now, almost three years later since that fateful day I look back and realize how far I have come, and how far I still have to go. But I look forward, always, and remind myself every day how blessed I am.

I now am able share my art, to teach online and share my passion and heart with others, I am now able to tell my story, to speak my voice, and not hold back. Because I tried.

I won’t be silent anymore and watch the world pass me by. I wont hold back ever again… only move forward. And do my best to encourage you all to do the same. We only live this life once, why not make it an amazing one! 🙂

So keep following your dreams, no matter how crazy they may seem, and don’t look back…

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

And if you have some time today, it would make me SO happy if you’d stop by at the SPRING AUCTION today where I will have those 25 of my pieces up I was telling you about, even just for a word of encouragement. 🙂

This auction, hosted my the amazing Stephanie Gagos, is already underway since the 18th and is running for 12 days, with 21 amazing artists, each day a different one. I have been blown away by the talent and heart of these fellow artists, and of course, of our amazing host Stephanie that makes this all possible.. Thank you Stephanie, and all of you dear friends for making possible to follow our dreams. ❤

Have a wonderful day! 🙂

The secret is out!

Hello fellow artists!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and had some time to create!

I have been soooo busy lately, filming for my new class “The art of expression”, which is now open for registration, woohoo!

I also have been waiting to spill a very exciting secret, and now I can finally say that I am one of the surprise teachers for the year-long course “PAINT YOUR HEART AND SOUL”, hosted by the wonderful Olga Furman!

Read all about it

Her teaching, along with many other talented artists have made this class AMAZING, and I can honestly say that the students work coming from there has been mind blowing! This year-long workshop is packed with different techniques and inspiration boosts every week to keep you creating all year long!

So, all this to say that I am super excited and honored to announce my project for this class, which will go online on the 29th of March!

Painting from my heart and soul is what my art is all about.

It’s the most important thing for me when I paint, to transmit and connect through art, baring a little bit of my soul so that others can relate and be inspired.

It’s never easy to put yourself out there.

For many years I was afraid to do this.

But I learned through many hardships and soul searching that it is a vital part of me and my life as an artist. Art has healed me, and given me the strength to pull through hard times.

And so, my friends, this is what this lesson will be about.

It’s called “Soul Whispers”, and that, if we get quiet enough, we can really hear what our heart and soul has to say.

It doesn’t speak out loud, but in soft whispers that guide us and give us the answers we are looking for.

Soul Whispers

I hope you will join us in this amazing workshop, and join me in this special lesson of painting with your heart.

I will be showing you my special technique of layering with watercolor and acrylics, to create a beautiful luminous effect, while we work very intuitively and let our painting guide us and show us how it wants to unfold.

I hope you are excited as I am for this lesson and can’t wait to see you in class!

Soul Whispers

If I could see, or even feel
That light that shines deep within..
I let my thoughts and mind go quiet
And really listen to the silence.
I hear my souls’ gentle whispers
Comforting from all the violence.
That light that glows from the heart
Envelops me with its warmth.
It heals my soul, slowly transforming,
Filling me with life once more.
-Katrina koltes

Hello fellow artists!

I hope you are enjoying your week!

I am SUPER excited to announce that REGISTRATION to my brand new class

“THE ART OF EXPRESSION – Painting with feeling” is NOW OPEN! Woohoo!

It’s always a challenge for me to make a workshop, both physically and mentally. A lot of work goes into it behind the scenes and sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed. But I don’t let that discourage me! I plunge forward and meet the challenge face-on.

I guess after so many years of waiting around for things to happen I finally woke up and thought, hey Kate, nothing’s going to fall in your lap, you have to work for it, really hard, every day.

And I do. I practice constantly. If I don’t know how to open a website I google it and study on how to do it on my own. If haven’t the slightest clue on how to do edit a video, I learn how.

I’m always jugging a hundred things at the same time and it keeps me inspired and so busy that often I forget to eat, lol. But that’s what artists do right? Life as an artist isn’t easy, it’s hard work. But it’s SO worth it!!

When I see somebody can relate and resonate with my work it makes me inspires me to do more! When somebody tells me they are inspired by my work, I can’t wait to inspire again! It’s one of the most wonderful things about being an artist.

 Connecting with others through art.

Through expression in our art.

And that’s what my new workshop is all about. Expressing and connecting though art.

I hope you will join me on this amazing journey, and so we can continue to inspire each other.

I hope you will have the courage to create with me while we let down our boundaries and really let our feelings come to the fore.

It may not be easy…. For me it never is.

Because when releasing our emotions and just expressing we feel vulnerable.

But that’s the beauty of it.

That’s when people see your artwork and think, hey, how did she know exactly what I was feeling today!?

Because it’s a form of communication, of expression and of baring your soul, so that others can do the same.

It’s painting with FEELING that makes the difference. And I can’t wait to inspire you to do just that.

I hope to see you in the classroom!
