Now we can begin our first layers.
I find that working with mixed media is so relaxing and enjoyable as we can just let our inner child play.
Most of the collage will be covered up anyway, or will only be used as texture for the final layers. When there are collage bits peeking out through the layers it creates that extra dose of mystery and visual interest.
We begin by choosing some bits and pieces of ephemera in a matching color scheme. Don’t overthink it, just have fun and don’t be afraid to overlap some pieces too.
