Creative play

So, before we get into our main projects and portraits let’s ‘break the ice’ and start with some fun shapes, colors, and patterns.

You don’t necessarily have to do the class lessons in the order I show here, but the reason I start with this warm up exercise is because it’s a wonderful and effective way of playing, discovering and experimenting and getting to know your watercolors better.

Other than being a wonderfully fun way to practice, it’s really helped me to loosen up and experiment, and see how certain colors react and counteract with each other. You can spend as much or as little time as you like with this warm-up, until you feel ready to move on to the first lesson.

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, taking risks and having fun!”  – Mary Lou Cook

So how fun was that?! 😛

There are so many endless possibilities with watercolor!

Let’s go on to the next lesson to discover more of them together shall we?
