Part five: details
Now we start adding more layers to her hair, remembering to add variety with color and line.
I like to use the gold to create patterns in her jewelry, drawing lines and adding thicker areas
then scratching into the pastel to add some texture.
Lastly we draw in her wings in a transparent layer by adding the outline then
softly blending it into the black to keep it fairly transparent and translucent.
Let’s not forget the very final highlights with the white pastel to really make it pop!
I also decided to paint some rays of light coming from her crown with the same colors as the
wings. I love how this adds an extra special touch and symbolizes her shining light in the darkness.

Adding each layer is so important for the final glow effect, so don’t get discouraged in the first layers.
As you push forward and keep going she will really start to glow on the page and come to life.
