The Dragon is such a powerful and mesmerizing creature and possibly the best-known mythological animals throughout history. They has been the inspiration for folktales, countless books, poems, art, movies and other expressive mediums. (And the role character in some of my son’s favorite bedtime stories!) ;P
The Dragon has been well respected in many cultures and is either honored or greatly feared. He is one of the most powerful totems and is a symbol of strength, courage and fortitude.
Dragons are messengers of balance and magic, and once the dragon started showing up in my art, I found it was a lot easier to to view the world through the eyes of wonder and mystery. He is also deeply connected with the Earth and Mother nature, and works as a sort of “portal” to the mystical world and ancient arts.
And She is an extremely powerful protector and guide. In fact, the word “Dragon” derives from the Greek work “Drakonta” which means “to watch”. So if you feel you need more of the Dragon spirit in your life then come and paint her with me!
You can also choose another powerful mystical guide if you prefer. Some that come to mind are the White stag, Unicorn, Raven, Phoenix, and Pegasus, all wonderful in their own way!
