Painting the background

Let’s continue on to paint her dress. I like to add many colors both to the jewel and her white dress, as it’s reflecting its surroundings.

To add contrast and that glow effect, I like to paint the area of her dress that’s near the Pool of visions darker, so that the water will seem brighter.

Remember where the light is falling so we can make sure to keep that side lighter than the other.

we add many layers of color to her hair so that when we go over later with the white it will show through and create that illusion of thickness.

As we begin painting the arches, doorways of light in the huge trees, we want to keep in mind that the main focus of the painting is the forefront figure, and not make anything too “stark” or too detailed in the background.
