Painting the forest faeries

Although you might already have met the faeries by now and have an idea of how they look like, some of you might find it difficult to just draw them off the top of your head.

Sometimes when we meditate and journey we don’t use our sense of sight as much as the other senses.

Instead, we often hear, feel, and especially sense their presence.

For this reason I like to use a special method that helps bring them to life on the page.

I find that by taking pictures of nature on my walks (or even sketching nature from real life) I begin to get the inspiration flowing.

So you can start by collecting pictures from your walks in the forest, or feel free to use mine.

Here are the pictures you can download for your own use:

So let’s begin by drawing and painting some of these nature findings.

This is a fun project and great watercolor practice.

If you are not into painting you can also cut out some pictures and collage them on… Just use your imagination!

You’ll be surprised what the faeries inspire.

Now comes the best part… We can being adding in our faeries!

I love creating visual stories.

You can get as inventive as you like. Just have fun with this!

I sketched some of these faeries the day before in my journal, that made it easier to add them into my page rearranging them to tell a story. Feel free to use my reference sketches to inspire your journal page as well!
