Here is a list of the supplies I used for this workshop, but you can substitute most of the materials with items you have…That’s the beauty of mixed media! Let me know in the Facebook group if you have any questions.
Supply list
- Canvas or any preferred substrate that takes mixed media (like watercolor paper or wood panel)
- Matt gel medium
- Ephemera, collage papers or napkins in matching hues
- Matt craft paints (I used colors I love but feel free to use what colors inspire you! These are the ones I used from Americana (but any acrylic paint is great): Spa Blue (a light blue), Gray sky, Sand, mid flesh tone, Sea breeze (a teal shade), Prussian blue, Payne’s gray, Victorian blue (grayish mid-tone blue), honey brown
- White gesso
- Wet wipes, napkins
- Old credit card or brayer, acrylic brushes
- Pastel pencils in similar tones of your paints (I used a light gray, a light and dark flesh tone, lavender gray, dark bluish gray, black and white, yellow-orange and reddish brown)
- A few soft pastels in similar tones
- Tortillion blending stumps
- Pastel fixative spray
- Cold wax for sealing – optional step (I used Dorland’s wax)
- Palette knife for spreading the wax
