So let’s begin to add pastel layers to our spirit owl.
Don’t worry if it looks strange in the first layers, there’s always a stage where you feel like giving up, but if you keep at it and add those last layers you’ll see that it starts to make a big difference!
I enjoy using my fingers to blend, but to get the little details it really helps to have some blending stumps (as pastels tend to be quite thick).
Just try different ways so that you can find what methods work best for you.
Part two: the owl
Now that we have the main layers down for the owl we can start thinking about the background and details.
It’s good to take a little break at this point, and come back to your painting again with fresh eyes.
